Oh man, that Paleo Porridge though

A friend of mine got so excited when he told a group of us about this Paleo Porridge he made. For those of you who don’t know, Paleo is an eating style where you just work to eat real food from nature – meats, seafood, chicken, nuts, advocado, veggies, fruits, etc. However, don’t get caught up on the name or the “diet.”

My aim in posting recipes that are Paleo is for us to focus on eating real, unprocessed food, for these foods offer not only a great amount of nutrition, but a vast array of other health benefits physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. More on this to come in another blog post 🙂

Now, back to the Porridge. This porridge recipe is a quick and easy way to get the same texture as oatmeal and porridge, but with a kickblast of taste and even more nutritional benefits. Shoot, you better watch out -you just might have another party in your mouth after eating this!

Paleo Porridge

Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 2 Bosc pears (these are the brown ones you can find at the store)
  • ¼ cup of coconut milk, almond milk, or even water (I used Badia’s coconut milk) Note – If you want a thinner porridge, I would add some water and blend again. If you want a thicker porridge, don’t add as much milk or water.
  • Handful of almonds (quantity to your liking)
  • Cinnamon
  • Berries (optional)
  1. Blend all ingredients together in a blender of food processor.
  2. Put the blended mixture on the stove top and bring to a boil while stirring periodically (Feel free to add more cinnamon at this point as well)
  3. Take off the stove and let cool. Serve with some berries on top!

Look out for my next blog post sometime next week, on how we too often settle for less than the full, joyful, and free life God has for us.
