Whole 30: Day 18 – Whole30 Approved Products

One of the most challenging parts of Whole 30 is knowing what food products you can and cannot eat. So many products have additives and preservatives in them that appear to be harmless, but could cause some adverse health effects depending on the individual.

Since my first Whole 30 in October 2014, I’ve researched and found products here in Cayman (and in the United States) that are allowed while doing Whole 30. Here are some of my favorites:

  1. Coconut Milk – Thai Kitchen, unsweetened full fat but click >>HERE<< for some other versions
  2. Grassfed Butter – Kerrygold (BUT! Butter must be clarified – meaning, milk removed)
  3. Coconut Aminos – Coconut Secret (great substitute for soy or stir fry sauce)
  4. Sparkling Water – La Croix
  5. Fruit Bars – Larabars (cherry, apple pie, and a few others are Whole 30 approved, read the labels to ensure it has no vanilla extract, peanuts, or added sugar)
  6. Hot sauces, Salad Dressings, Dips – Tessamae
  7. Breakfast Sausages – Niman Ranch (Thai and Andouille)
  8. Local Greens – Island Fresh (In Cayman) and the Farmer’s Market
  9. Dried Fruit – Sunmaid Raisins and Dole Dates (most dried fruit has added sugar, read your labels)
  10. Plantain and Yuca (Cassava) – Chiquita and Local
  11. KombuchaGT’s Energy

In regards to meat, look for grass-fed or pastured raised if you can find them and afford them. Try to get the best quality in meat, eggs, fruits, and veggies that you can. Check out some of Whole30’s useful guides from their website to find more:

Knowing what to eat and how to eat takes research, practice and time. Don’t get overwhelmed or discouraged if you don’t know everything right away – we are all learning! And that’s the point – since we are all learning, we all should encourage and share what we learn with one another. We are meant to journey together towards optimal health, not alone.

So, thank you for choosing to journey with me through this blog and Whole 30 experience. I pray that at-least one blog, one paragraph, one sentence, one word or even one idea has encouraged and inspired you to continue to pursue holistic health for those around you, and most of all, for yourself.

Here’s to 18 wonderful days, and 12 more to go 🙂
