How to Fuel Yourself for Strength Training

Welcome to the one-hundred and seventy-sixth episode, where we discuss how to fuel yourself for strength training.

My name is Brianna Wilkerson from Made Well, and I’m the Founder / CEO of Made Well – a practice designed to see women be healthy and thrive in all areas of their lives.

I am a holistic health and life coach who helps women find peace with food, feel confident in their bodies again, and develop a healthy lifestyle that’s more than about what they weigh.

I also am an Essential Oils Advocate and love empowering women to use non-toxic solutions like essential oils for their health, homes, and families.

It is my absolute delight and pleasure to bring you this podcast and share with you all my heart and soul around truly being healthy and thriving in all areas of your life!

I know so many women either are scared of lifting weights or do, but then don’t adjust what they are eating to give their bodies the nutrients and fuel they need to get the full results and benefits of the strength training they are doing.

Which is exactly why I’ve brought on the amazing Steph Gaudreau on the @morethanyourweightpodcast to share with us how we can properly fuel ourselves for strength training!

Steph Gaudreau is a nutritional therapy, intuitive eating, and strength training expert helping women who lift weights fuel themselves better so they get stronger, increase their energy, and perform better in the gym. In her best-selling book, The Core 4, she details a four pillar approach to getting stronger, embracing your body, and owning your power. Steph is trained in biology and human physiology and is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor, and USA Weightlifting Sports Performance coach. Her weekly podcast, the Listen to Your Body Podcast, has 3.7+ million downloads and counting.

I love Steph’s work and have followed her as she’s shifted from focusing on helping women with eating more whole foods, to supporting around intuitive eating and movement, to now combining all of them and helping active women fuel themselves properly for their activity and needs.

In this episode, you will learn about:

  • Steph’s journey in struggling with the diet mentality, her relationship with food, and eating by the book and overcoming through tapping into the community around her
  • How she started strength training in her early 30’s and the difference it made in her body, her mindset and her life
  • How Step helps women get stronger through fueling themselves properly and doing simple, safe, and effective functional movement and exercises that mimic movements in their every day life
  • Why as we age and hit our 30’s and 40’s we must strength training and care for our muscle mass, bone density and more
  • The big gaps Steph sees in active women’s nutrition
  • Details on Stephy’s free strength training course, her more in depth strength training program and her new nutrition program (links in the episode resources)
  • Details on my FREE 5 Day Menu Planning Challenge that is happening THIS WEEK (which is the perfect challenge to help you with plan your meals well as you work on your strength training!)
