SCIENCE OF PEACE ESSENTIAL OIL

Peace (Reassuring Blend) is a beautiful blend of Vetiver Root, Lavender Flower, Ylang Ylang Flower, Frankincense Resin, Clary Sage Flower, Marjoram Leaf, Labdanum Leaf/Stalk, and Spearmint Herb.

CHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS

Because Peace is a blend, each one of oils in the blend contains their own chemical constituent. But today, we will look at Vetiver’s Chemical Constituents since it’s one of the top oils in Peace!

“The main chemical constituents of Vetiver essential oil are carvone, isovalencenol, khusimol. Both isovalencenol and khusimol are sesquiterpenes that are part of the alcohols functional group. These chemicals have grounding properties and are what make Vetiver essential oil a grounding oil.

Carvone is a monoterpene that is a member of the ketones functional group. Carvone contains energizing properties that add to the beneficial chemical properties of Vetiver essential oil.” – doTERRA

Both the alcohol and ketone chemical families are very calming to the body, mind and skin, making Vetiver a perfect oil to include in this blend.

THERAPEUTIC BENEFITS

Furthermore, the chemical constituents of Balance’s Oils give the essential oil the following properties:

– Stimulant
– Antiseptic
– Sedative
– Antispasmodic
– Immunostimulant
– Hypotensive
– Relaxing
– Soothing
– Restorative
– Neurotic

SOURCING OF PEACE ESSENTIAL OIL

Here’s a bit about where some of the oils that make doTERRA’s Peace comes from and how it’s created!

SOURCING

– VETIVER: Haiti
– FRANKINCENSE: Somalia
– LAVENDER: Bulgaria
– CLARY SAGE: USA
– MARJORAM: Hungary

What’s amazing is the Co-Impact Sourcing Initiatives doTERRA has for Vetiver and Frankincense!

Here’s a little bit from doTERRA on Vetiver from Haiti:

“In the 1930s, the perfume industry introduced Vetiver grass to Haiti. Surprisingly, Vetiver can grow amidst Haiti’s harsh conditions, even in areas where nutrient-deficient soil makes it difficult to grow food. Today, the Vetiver root produces a complex essential oil, used commonly for fragrances.

For Vetiver farmers in Haiti, harvesting and producing Vetiver oil is a labor-intensive process. After allowing the roots to mature for 16 to 18 months, farmers must dig the plant out of the ground and beat any excess dirt out of the roots—leaving only the pure Vetiver root. Farmers gather 500 bales of Vetiver to fill 20-foot stills, which will produce one gallon of oil once it is harvested. Using this system, it takes most farmers roughly two weeks to produce a single gallon of Vetiver oil—that’s with five farmers working for about 15 days to complete the process.”

So often Farmers harvest Vetiver early to make income since most of the farmers are low-income families, causing the Vetiver to not be as high quality. There is also a lack of organization for the Vetiver market.

doTERRA’s Co-Impact Sourcing Initiative in Haiti to provide organization, training, and support for Vetiver Farmers so they are taken care of and so they can produce a high-quality Vetiver”

SAFETY OF PEACE ESSENTIAL OIL

Below are some thoughts to consider around safety for Terrashield!

Terrashield is an amazing oil for all ages.

WHO: It’s great for all ages, but always see your doctor if you are concerned.

APPLICATION: Peace is a great oil to use topically and aromatically.

Like most essential oils, try to avoid contact with the eyes, inner ears, and sensitive areas.

DOSAGE: It depends.

Here are some recommended dilution guidelines (Age and Dosage Amount):

– Up to 3 Months: 1 Drop in 1 Tablespoon Carrier Oil
– Up to 24 Months: 3 Drops in 1 Tablespoon Carrier Oil
– 2-6 Years: 5 Drops in 1 Tablespoon Carrier Oil
– 6-15 Years: 1 Drop in 1 Teaspoon Carrier Oil
– 15 + Years: 5 Drops in 1 Teaspoon Carrier Oil

SHELF LIFE: Typical shelf life is roughly 4-5 years as well! You can look at the bottom of your doTERRA Peacebottle for the expiration date.

SAFETY PRECAUTION: However, be sure to keep OUT of the reach of children because even though it’s safe, we want to be careful they don’t OVEREXPOSE themselves to it. Also, if you are pregnant or under a doctor’s care, feel free to consult with them if you’re concerned.

Note – this information is just based on my understanding and is just for doTERRA’s Peace – you will need to do your research on other essential oils like this.

THE OIL OF PEACE

SUMMARY:

“This blend was formulated to assist individuals who lack inner peace. People thrive when they feel connected to the Divine. Souls achieve true and lasting peace through connection to this source. Without this true peace, there is a human tendency to try to manufacture peace by controlling one’s environment and relationships. Especially when one feels afraid, it is tempting to try to control others because it gives an artificial sense of order and safety.

Reassuring Blend invites individuals to connect to the true source of unending peace and let go of control and excess attachments in order to experience the incredible peace that flows from the Divine. It invites individuals to trust in divine goodness and grace. Peace affirms that no amount of control or effort can fill the empty soul. It reminds individuals that only by connecting to the Divine will they cultivate lasting peace.”
